City Palate’s Pig & Pinot Festival

City Palate Magazine’s 5th Annual Pig and Pinot Festival was held on June, 18 at Hotel Arts. This year, it was our very own Executive Chef Glen Manzer who took the top spot and the Divine Swine Trophy!

Fourteen talented Calgary chefs all came together to create original, mouth-watering pork dishes with Tamworth Large Black pigs from The Farm with the Good Food, located just west of Red Deer.

On the menu from Creative Restaurants was a Mezze Luna pierogi stuffed with goat cheese, leek and mazzafegati (pig live sausage). Our team also served trotters stuffed with lentils and topped with a blood orange relish, pig tail croquettes and an array of house-cured meats.

From Creative Restaurants’ Pastry Chef Erin Vrba and her talented team came a caramelized white chocolate panna cotta with sweet bacon jam.

Paring perfectly with the porcine dishes was an amazing selection of pinot wines from around the world, poured by seven local boutique wine stores who attended the event.

Along with great food and wine, Pig and Pinot is a fantastic way to shed light on Alberta’s pork industry. All proceeds from the event went to support Calgary Meals on Wheels.

Stay tuned for tickets to next year’s event! Date and time to be announced.
